As a proud wife of a retired veteran of the United States Army, I want to express my deep gratitude to all the brave men and women who have sacrificed so much to serve our country.
Thank you to the child who dreamed of being a soldier and became the young man or woman who said yes to their calling. To you who trained long days, marched until your feet blistered and obeyed every order by giving up your free will to defend the freedom of others – I want to say thank you.
To each mom and dad, thank you for raising a brave soul. To every brother, sister, cousin, and friend, thank you for supporting your loved one. To the wife or husband who waits for their spouse to come home, thank you for your sacrifice. And to the son or daughter who doesn’t quite understand why their parent has left, thank you. Each family member and loved one has contributed to the courage and resilience that define our military heroes. Your love, encouragement, and understanding make it possible for our service members to face the challenges of their duty.
Along with heartfelt gratitude, I also want to express my deepest sympathies. To you, who left a comrade behind, I’m sorry. To you, who left behind a piece of yourself, I’m sorry. To you, who felt lost upon your return, I’m sorry.
Thank you for your bravery of answering the call and for your commitment to making this world a better place. For everything you have sacrificed, Assisting Hands wants to serve you. We want to help you, and your spouses, through our Veteran’s programs. Learn more about how we help veterans and their families here.
