How In-Home Care Helps Seniors Stay Engaged

Sometimes, the only thing keeping a senior from joining an event or class is a little extra support. Whether it’s getting ready for the day, arranging transportation, or simply having a friendly companion to share the experience, in-home care makes it all possible.

At Assisting hands, our caregivers go beyond daily assistance — we help seniors stay active, confident, and connected to the Novi community they love.

Transportation Assistance

Reliable transportation can make all the difference. Our caregivers provide safe rides to senior centers, social events, doctor appointments, and local activities throughout Novi and surrounding areas. From door-to-door service to mobility support once they arrive, we make sure every outing is smooth, stress-free, and enjoyable.

Companionship Care

Social isolation is one of the biggest challenges many older adults face. Our compassionate caregivers offer meaningful companionship — someone to talk with, play games, attend activities, or simply share a cup of coffee. We encourage connection and joy every day, helping seniors build friendships and stay emotionally well.

Personal Care

A day out begins with feeling confident. Our team assists with bathing, grooming, dressing, and medication reminders, ensuring seniors are ready and comfortable for whatever the day brings. Whether it’s preparing for a local class or heading to lunch with friends, we make personal care dignified and discreet.

Dementia Care

Seniors living with Alzheimer’s or dementia deserve the same opportunities to enjoy life and connect with others — safely. Our dementia-trained caregivers provide gentle reminders, redirection, and structured routines to ensure each outing or activity is positive and secure. We focus on maintaining independence while preventing stress or confusion.

Respite Care

Family caregivers need breaks too. Our respite care services provide trusted, temporary support so family members can rest, recharge, or take care of personal matters — knowing their loved one is in expert, compassionate hands. During this time, our caregivers can assist with meals, companionship, and participation in local events or programs.
