Meet the Team

Ben and Chelsey Bowerman

We are dedicated to providing the best possible work environment for all of our employees. As parents of four young children, we strongly believe in caring for others the way we care for our own family. Whether it’s the care of a child or an elder, it takes relentless effort and compassion to ensure every need is met.

Our foundation of love comes from Jesus Christ, and we believe we are called to love as He does. There is no greater feeling than being able to care for someone in need, and it is truly an honor to serve so many families through Assisting Hands.

Our favorite parts of owning Assisting Hands are the meaningful stories we hear from each client—their hardships, joyful moments, and lessons learned—and the opportunity to employ an incredible team while creating a family-oriented environment where every staff member feels at home.

Kourtney Tysar

Kourtney Tysar is our dedicated Client Care Coordinator at Assisting Hands. In her role, she works directly with clients to ensure their care plans are accurate, up to date, and thoughtfully matched with the right caregiver.

She graduated in 2020 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and Aging Studies from Eastern Michigan University. “I knew I wanted to work with the older population and make an impact on a larger scale. Over the last year, this position has allowed me to keep learning and growing while also challenging me in new ways.”

Outside of work, Kourtney is a proud military wife and mom to two beautiful girls, as well as two huge dogs. She enjoys cooking, crafting, and sneaking in a nap whenever possible. As she puts it: “My life is boring—just the way I like it.”

Brenda Bergeron, PhD, has served as the Director of Operations at Assisting Hands Milford since the agency’s opening in 2020. Her journey in home care began during her college years, when she worked as a caregiver while pursuing her studies.

After earning her PhD in Psychology, Brenda built a career as a Psychologist in private practice and as an adjunct associate professor. Her path eventually led her back to home care after the deeply personal experience of caring for her father.

“I share Ben and Chelsey’s vision to provide highly personalized care for clients through a coordinated team effort. As a psychologist, I understand the importance of thoughtfully matching each client with the right caregiver—a process that is critical for their well-being and quality of life.”

Brenda Bergeron

Rochelle is one of our dedicated Care Managers at Assisting Hands. She works closely with clients and caregivers to ensure that every care plan is accurate, up to date, and the best possible match for each client’s needs. Her caregiving journey began in 1996 when she became a licensed caregiver after graduating high school. Over the years, Rochelle gained experience in various specialty areas of the medical field, but in 2003 she discovered her true passion in hospice care. She went on to become a Licensed National Hospice and Palliative Caregiver and devoted 20 years to serving families in the hospice industry.

In 2024, Rochelle joined the Assisting Hands team, bringing with her a wealth of hospice and professional experience that has added a wonderful dynamic to our care team. Rochelle is married to her wonderful husband and together they share three beautiful children and two cherished grandchildren. In her spare time, she loves spending time with family, cooking, playing board games, and attending church. Her passion is helping people in any way she can—and putting a smile on everyone’s face.

Kaylii Berney is a delightful Scheduling Coordinator at Assisting Hands. Prior to Assisting Hands, she was a Services Coordinator for a special needs adult rehabilitation service. “I currently live in Novi with my loving husband and fur kids! When I’m not keeping busy with work or finding a new DIY project around the house- you can find me with my nose buried in a good book, kicking back on the lake with my dogs, or cooking up something yummy in the kitchen! “To care for those who once cared for us is one of the highest honors.”
Gretchen serves as our Human Resources Assistant and Payroll Specialist. She lives in Ypsilanti with her husband and their 6-year-old son, and they love exploring new places and making memories together as a family.

Before joining our team, Gretchen spent 17 years as a librarian, where she developed a passion for helping people and working with technology. In 2024, she earned her Master’s degree in Human Resource Management and transitioned into the HR field. Gretchen also brings valuable insight into patient care, having supported family members through various healthcare needs over the years.

She’s thrilled to continue growing her career at Assisting Hands and feels grateful to be part of such a wonderful team. Her guiding principle comes from Luke 6:31: “Do to others as you would have them do to you.”

Before joining Assisting Hands, Audrey built her career in a variety of marketing roles focused on customer engagement, creative strategy, and event planning. She loves people and thrives when she can connect others to meaningful services and experiences she truly believes in. Audrey brings that same passion to her role at Assisting Hands, helping raise awareness about the value of the personalized in-home care we offer and strengthening connections between families, caregivers, and care partners. Outside of work, Audrey enjoys creativity and community and hopes to bring many of her passions to the senior community she serves. She loves planning fun activities and events, playing piano and banjo, and finding thoughtful ways to bless others through meaningful moments and gifts. Her joy comes from helping people feel valued, seen, and celebrated — whether through music, shared experiences, or heartfelt connection.
