Every month we like to honor one of our caregivers for stepping up and going the extra mile to help us and our amazing clients. This month we would like to introduce our friendly and fabulous Caregiver of the Month: Rachel! We are so thankful to have Rachel shining her light on our clients.
About Rachel
Rachel has always been drawn to working with seniors. She has experience in Memory Care, but she loves working one on one with clients the way she is able to do in Home Care at Assisting Hands. She says that she is thrilled to be able to devote more time and attention to each client. Her heart is with seniors living with dementia, and her passion is to give back and make a difference in her clients’ lives.
Rachel has a beautiful view of caregiving. She told us the way she views caring for her seniors is “It helps me to help you. You give as much to me as I give to you.” We love Rachel’s genuine and heartfelt approach to caregiving. She loves to soak up words of wisdom from her clients and she is completely devoted to creating meaningful relationships.
Advice on Caregiving
Rachel’s advice to new caregivers: patience! Especially when taking care of someone with dementia, Rachel advises taking it one step at a time and using your intuition. Rachel says you need to have the right temperament to take care of someone, and we couldn’t agree more. She says to always treat your clients the way you would treat your own family. We feel that that is the perfect starting place for Caregiving, and that is the standard that caregivers like Rachel help us to maintain here at Assisting Hands.
In her free time, Rachel loves to spend time with her son. They play football together in the backyard after her son taught her how to play! Rachel also loves to watch movies and eat good food…especially pasta! Once again, Rachel, we couldn’t agree more.
