December Caregiver of the Month: Nayely Cadena

December 12, 2018ahadlock

This December, our caregiver of the month is Nayely! Nayely is a part-time nursing student and a full-time super star! She has been working with us since last summer and we couldn’t be happier to have her on board.

About NayelyNayely-Cadena-December-Caregiver-of-the-Month

We don’t always hear from Nayely, because so often everything is simply smooth sailing as she delivers quality care to our favorite seniors. We do, however, hear from Nayely’s clients! They ask if she can come back to work with them, and they tell us how wonderful she is. We know Nayely will be a gift as a nurse, because she is the definition of a caring and humble hard worker!

Here is a Q and A with our superstar!

1. What inspired you to become a caregiver and go into healthcare?

Good caregivers make the best nurses. I was inspired to become a caregiver when my father would take me to the nursing home where he used to work and I would do some volunteer work and help with bingo or other activities.

I noticed how their mood would change when I would have interaction with them and just listen to them talk about their day or sometimes their families. That gave me so much joy and it inspired me to pursue a career in the health field.

2. What advice would you give new caregivers?

Being a caregiver is more than just providing care to someone. Caring for another is about showing compassion and respect and being by their side. Patience is also key in being a good caregiver, and listening is very important. Often times they just want to be heard.

3. Why do you like to work for your home care clients with Assisting Hands?

I enjoy working with my client because we understand each other, and she is the sweetest lady. I am understanding of her needs and we work well together. We never have problems with one another and I know how thankful she is of me. To me, that is all that matters.

4. What are your future goals?

My plan for the future is to further my education, obtain my BSN license and be able to help my parents retire in the future.

What do you like to do in your free time?

In my free time I usually like to hang out with my friends and go out and dance, or go somewhere downtown. I love the city because there is always something to do.
