VA Benefits & Home Care for Veterans in Colorado
Veterans and their families may have questions about how VA benefits can help with the cost of care at home.
At Assisting Hands Home Care, we are proud to support veterans and their families with compassionate, non-medical in-home care throughout Littleton, Lakewood, Highlands Ranch, Denver, and surrounding Colorado communities.

Can VA Benefits Help Pay for Home Care?
Depending on eligibility, certain VA benefits may help qualifying veterans or surviving spouses with care-related expenses.
One benefit families may want to explore is VA Aid and Attendance.
Aid and Attendance is an increased monthly pension benefit for qualifying veterans and survivors who meet certain service, financial, and care-related requirements.
Eligibility is determined by the Department of Veterans Affairs.
What Is VA Aid and Attendance?
VA Aid and Attendance may provide additional monthly pension benefits to qualifying individuals who require assistance with everyday activities.
Families should contact the VA or an accredited veterans service organization to determine whether they qualify.
VA Homemaker and Home Health Aide program
Eligible veterans may also qualify for in-home personal care through the VA Homemaker and Home Health Aide program. Services such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility help are authorized based on the veteran’s assessed needs and coordinated through the VA healthcare team.

VA Respite Care
Veterans enrolled in VA health care may qualify for up to 30 days of respite care per calendar year, giving family caregivers a much-needed break. Respite care may be provided in the veteran’s home, at an adult day health care center, or through a temporary nursing home stay. VA respite care is separate from ongoing Homemaker and Home Health Aide services. Eligibility and availability are determined by the VA, and services are arranged through the veteran’s VA care team. Families can also call the VA Caregiver Support Line at 1-855-260-3274.
