Hurricane Caregivers: Assisting Hands Miami Sponsors Two Donations for Irma & Maria

We have heard from Tricia Winiecki of Assisting Hands Naples (full story) and Robert Thomas of Assisting Hands Fort Myers (full story) on how they are coping with Hurricane Irma. Most recently, Assisting Hands Home Care of Miami owner Armando Morales has made efforts to assist recovery efforts from both Hurricane Irma and Hurricane Maria. Morales coordinated efforts with Miami caregivers and local businesses to provide hurricane relief. On Sept. 14th, Assisting Hands Home Care of Miami made this announcement on Facebook:

“At Assisting Hands Home Care of Miami and Miami Beach, we are committed to our clients, our caregivers and our community. We still don’t have internet or phone service in our office so we are all working diligently from home to make sure that all our clients get the best care possible. And, we decided to use our office to collect donations for the victims of Hurricane Irma.”

On Sept. 14th and 15th, our Miami office took donations in the form of water, canned good, clothing and other items.

Their efforts did not stop there. After Hurricane Maria struck Puerto Rico, Morales stepped up again to collect donations. On Friday, Sept. 22nd, Assisting Hands Home Care Miami co-sponsored a donation collection from noon until midnight. They collected canned goods, bottled water, hygiene products, baby items, pet food and more.

CEO of Assisting Hands Lane Kofoed, spent Saturday, Sept. 23rd in Miami helping Morales load and unload supplies.

Kofoed said, “The supplies are being sent to Puerto Rico. Armando has a lot of family down there, and he is very motivated to send all the help he can get to them. This morning I had the chance to help out. They are still without power and water, and most of their commercial and educational buildings are destroyed so they’re in pretty bad shape.”

Morales took the initiative as a community leader and worked alongside other volunteers to collect donated items. Thank you to Armando, Lane, and the community of Miami for going above and beyond to help others.

We appreciate all that our franchise owners are doing to offer assistance during these disastrous times, and the efforts being made across the country to serve those affected by the storms.
