Dementia is quite prevalent among senior citizens, as around 5 million seniors are affected by Alzheimer’s disease or some form of dementia. All forms of dementia are degenerative cognitive conditions that affect memory and general cognitive abilities. The initial symptoms are mild and may include issues with short-term memory, but the symptoms will get worse over time and have a drastic effect on memory and cognitive abilities. Seniors with dementia cannot take care of themselves, and it benefits them to receive care in the familiar environment of their home.
