Providers Of Senior Care At Home Discuss Nutritional Plans That May Relieve Osteoporosis Symptoms

May 5, 2016msoltisBlog

senior care at home understand that nutrition is not a catch-all cure for your loved one’s osteoporosis. However, a nutritional meal plan specific to osteoporosis related needs may help reduce some if not all of the daily painful symptoms they may be experiencing. These meal plans are designed to strengthen and treat weak bones and soft fragile bones that generate painful aches. As your parent’s doctor has most likely described, osteoporosis reduces the size and strength in the bones. Walking, lifting, even shifting from one position to another may cause agonizing pain. For some, not doing anything may seem to be the best solution, but that will not reduce the pain. In fact it will only worsen it.

The nutritional meal plans that providers of senior care at home recommend are based on dietary science and provide vitamins and minerals needed for bone health. In some cases, if the balance of natural products is consumed and absorbed by the body properly, medications that are being used to treat the osteoporosis may work better and with less irritation. These plans include vitamin D, often found in milk and other dairy products. Osteo-nutritional diets limit sodium that can be harmful to the human body in many ways, including retention of fluid that can put additional pressure on muscles and blood vessels.

Vitamin D is found in many foods in addition to milk and dairy. However if your parent cannot digest dairy products a nutritionist and provider of senior care at home can assist in the search for a proper vitamin supplement that provides the daily dose your mother or father requires.

In compliance with the nutritional meal plan, an exercise program is necessary to keep your loved one’s bones from getting weaker. For many older adults with very fragile bones or at high risk for fractures, water aerobics is easy for the body. The movement is smooth and builds strength with less threat of injury.
