What is Quality of Life?

March 3, 2023adicenzoBlog, health

We all hope to live to the ripe old age of 100 but we don’t want to just live it, we want to LOVE it!  The loss of independence as we age can be so frustrating, but it doesn’t mean you cant live your life to the fullest. As a matter of fact, studies have shown that most people feel happiest in their later years! (between 60-80 years of age) Health in older age shouldn’t be defined by the absence of disease. Healthy Aging is achievable by every older person. It’s all about the Quality of life!

What does it mean to have a good Quality of Life? The World Health Organization describes it as having a positive perception of your position in life in the context of the culture and value systems in which you live and in relation to your goals, expectations, standards and concerns. Many factors play a role in the quality of life such as, financial security, family life, health and safety. Assisting Hands can play a huge part in helping you maintain your health and keep you safe at home.

Many factors influence healthy aging. Some of these, such as genetics, are not in our control. Others, like exercise, a healthy diet, regular checkups and taking care of our mental health, are within our reach!

As much as we wish we could be there to help our loved ones through the aging transition it isn’t always possible to be there 24/7 Assisting Hands is here to help your loved ones have the highest quality of life, regardless of what health complications they may be battling. Not only can we assist with normal activities of daily living, but your loved ones can still enjoy activities they love with the help of a companion.
