Assisting Hands is excited to announce that we will be launching a pilot program with Care Story, a Canadian based company that takes getting to know your client to the next level.
Ten of our families were randomly chosen to complete an online profile that shares a bit about their loved one’s lives, photos, dietary preferences, etc.
We find that at intake we are so focused on getting information about the clients’ immediate needs, that we miss out on important details about WHO THEY ARE and the beautiful lives they have lived until that point.
Caregivers have the opportunity to login to the same portal and learn more about their client. They can share information with other caregivers who will be joining the case. For example, if one caregiver finds out that your dad loves his breakfast just a certain way, she can take a photo and share those details with the next person who will be joining the case.
Families can even share videos from gatherings like weddings, visits to grandkids, birthdays across the country, etc. We know that our homebound clients miss out on a lot and the app is a great way to stay connected-with the help of the caregiver, of course.
Caregivers can find support in consoling a grieving or confused client through the CareStory app. A family member might post a favorite video or song that they know will soothe their loved one. We understand that families really know best and we want to involve them in the care and use all the nuggets they have to share.
We’ll be piloting CareStory for the next 6 months. If you received an invitation, please login and fill out the profile. Give us a call with your feedback – we want to know what you think and if CareStory is a tool you’d like to see in our homes on a permanent basis!
