Our Caregiver of the month is Serena Frazier! Serena came to us earlier this year after working private duty. We were immediately struck by Serena’s energetic approach to caregiving and the passion she brings to the table. Our clients see her expertise and compassion, while from our side; Serena is the definition of a team player. From the beginning she was a great sport about working split shifts, weekends, etc. Our seniors need help EVERY day of the week and Serena understands that. When asked about her schedule she just says, “I love what I do and I like to work hard!”
Serena was inspired to begin a career in healthcare after watch her mom. According to Serena, “my mom is a soft, gentle person and while I watched her do what she loves, I began to have my own passion for caring for our older adults. My mom has taught me everything that I know now.”
Serena’s advise to any new caregivers is to make sure that you really enjoy what you do. Make sure you get to know your client on a more personal bases, so that work isn’t just “work”.
In the future Serena would like to go to school to become an RN and then eventually become a hospice or palliative care nurse. We think that she will do wonderfully in that position and make a difference in the lives of so many families .
What do her clients say about her? Well, we run into the problem we do with a lot of new star caregivers: divide their days between two cases and both families only want more hours with Serena! They all agree she is a gem and even working 6 days/week, her clients still request more days with her.
In her free time (which is limited!), Serena likes to relax and catch up with friends and family.
We are so happy to have her on our caregiving team at Assisting Hands Home Care!
