On June 9th, the Assisting Hands Team welcomed Amy Benge, Sanctuary Hospice’s Clinical Liaison, to our Arlington Heights Office to talk about hospice services and what our roles as home caretakers entails. Our team began by reflecting on our personal experiences working with clients in hospice care. While touching on our own lesson’s learned and emotional journey, we also discussed the experiences of our clients and their loved ones during this time in their lives. Following our lively conversation, Amy overviewed important considerations regarding personal needs, diet, medical treatments, physical condition, and cognitive states that may be unique to clients in hospice. She also touched on the different health professionals who will be present in the home providing additional healthcare including hospice nurses, chaplains, social workers, etc.
We thoroughly enjoyed having Amy join us for the afternoon. As we are continuously learning in the field of healthcare, Assisting Hands Home Care prioritize offering structured educational opportunities for our caretaking team to ensure we are providing the best caretaking services possible!
At Assisting Hands Home Care, we offer a variety of home caretaking services ranging from personal home care and companionship to hospice care. Hospice healthcare focuses on improving both the quality of life and comfortability for those with terminal illnesses. The hospice care team includes both healthcare professionals and caretakers who work together to create a plan of care that addresses the whole person. All physical, social, emotional, and spiritual needs are considered connected rather than individual entities in this type of healthcare.
