It’s natural for some of us to struggle at times to make conversation with others, whether they are family members, co-workers, or strangers. We often stick to safer topics of default such as politics, family, the weather, or jobs.
This is a great time to dig into the family history and let the younger generations. Children often need prompting to engage in a conversation with an older adult since they have not developed the art of small talk yet or suddenly get shy and don’t know what to say. It is a golden opportunity for them to get to know their elders in a new way and create lasting memories with them.
Instead of the usual “kids are good and the weather is,” try one of these thoughtful questions that will help you begin funny, beautiful, or heartfelt conversations between you and your loved one:
