We Walk to #ENDALZ

The executive staff of Assisting Hands Home Care participated in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s on October 3, 2020 with a socially distant walk in Huddy Park in Toms River.

For everyone at Assisting Hands Home Care Alzheimer’s is deeply personal. Several employees have lost loved ones to this disease.

We #Walk2EndAlz and #ShowYourPurple in Alzheimer’s New Jersey and the Alzheimer’s Association’s  Walk to End Alzheimer’s are important to ensure essential support resources that are available to help families and caregivers cope with caring for loved ones with the disease remain in place.

The research the Association funds is vital to accelerate new treatments, preventions and one day, a cure. We look forward to the day when this disease is stopped in its tracks and families don’t have to watch their loved ones lose their precious memories and ability to recognize those they love the most.

The team at Assisting Hands believes we are all soldiers in the fight against Alzheimer’s disease.

We carry the yellow flower on walk day because we provide care for Alzheimer’s and dementia clients throughout Mercer, Monmouth and Ocean counties and see the impact this terrible disease has on them and their families. It is painful to watch our clients slowly slip away as Alzheimer’s takes hold. Our hearts break as parents no longer remember their children, spouses can’t identify their beloved of 50 years or more and the young grandchildren who can’t understand why a grandparent doesn’t recognize them.

We walk because we care.

Many of the clients we care for suffer from Alzheimer’s and/or dementia and staff members have lost some family members to the disease, so we believe raising funds and give back is crucial so the association can continue its mission of helping people deal with every aspect of the disease and engage professionals in continual learning and awareness.

Gerry Patrizio, Assisting Hands owner, serves on the Walk Committee and sponsors a team every year because it is important to continuously support the Alzheimer’s Association so it can continue to do great work to combat this devastating disease. Staff members also participate in regular calls with the Association, other care professionals and caregivers to share ideas and experiences.
