VA Disability Ratings
Those who qualify for VA benefits are given a disability rating that rates the severity of their disability. The disability rating is expressed as a percentage that reflects the impact the disability has on their overall health and ability to function. This rating is used to help determine the amount of compensation received each month and whether the veteran is eligible for additional VA benefits.
The disability rating can apply to those with a single disability, and the VA can also assign a combined disability rating to those who have multiple disabilities. The VA bases disability ratings on the following:
- Evidence of disability such as medical test results and reports from healthcare professionals
- VA claim exam results
- Information from viable sources such as federal agencies
