What is respite care services?
Assisting Hands in home care respite care services focuses on the client rather than the disability and our caregivers are trained and skilled in helping the family and friends personal care services so that they can take a break and/or spend quality time with their loved one.
Assisting Hands® respite care helps overcome challenges with non-medical activities of daily living (ADLs) that clients may face.
To highlight, our certified, bonded, trained, and insured caregivers have the skills and licensing necessary to provide services such as companionship, fall prevention, home safety, light housekeeping, meal prepping, eating assistance, well-being oversight, dressing, light exercise assistance, hygiene care, incontinence care, transportation, and more.
CDSS Guardian
In conjunction with the California Department of Social Services (CDSS), Guardian is a new electronic data system, designed to streamline the background check process for all licensed care, including the TrustLine Registry, Home Care Aide Registry and Community Care Licensing staff.
This new system replaced the previous CBC system.
As such, Guardian now displays the current transfer functionality and ability to view rosters in the Licensing Information System (LIS).
Guardian provides new self-service options to applicants, registrants, agencies (facilities) and Regional Offices without intervention by the Care Provider Management Bureau (CPMB).
The term “agencies” is inclusive of all licensed facilities, Foster Family Agencies, Home Care Organizations and TrustLine agencies.
Using Guardian, Assisting Hands® background checks include a nationwide criminal history search covering felonies and misdemeanors, as well as a sex offender registry search.
Therefore, Assisting Hands® complies with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations regarding background checks and the use of information obtained through background checks.
All caregivers (home care aides) and office staff complete background checks through Guardian.
In addition, all caregivers must have clearance in order to perform any tasks in our agency.
A Guardian background check clearance is necessary to obtain Home Care Aide (HCA) certification for all employees, including the Owner, in order to perform tasks outlined in the Home Care Aide Organization (HOC) license.
