Home Senior Care Providers Emphasize Healing Powers Of Music

November 5, 2015msoltisBlog

Home senior care specialists have identified that music is often the best medicine an elderly adult can receive. Music has the power to reduce anxiety that often induces or heightens pain levels. It is also noted that when music is played while taking blood pressure, the home senior care provider often records a significant drop in the reading. This could be beneficial for your parent’s overall health.

Due to the nature of the instrument, music from the harp is unique and has been identified as producing calming music. The calming sounds are a result of the open string placement allowing for subtle frequencies. Studies indicate these are the frequencies that are producing peace within the body and soul.

Music stirs the mind and brings back memories. Home senior care specialists have found that there is power in music when connecting to those adults who may have Alzheimer’s or a form of dementia. The stories that are part of the past are brought into the present stirred by the beat and rhythm of life renewed if only for a few short moments at a time.

Home senior care providers have witnessed that many senior citizens who engage in music therapy or use music personally to participate socially are healthier and happier. To quote Socrates, “when the soul hears music, it drops its best guard.” Music opens the heart and the mind to opportunities that without the rhythm and the soothing melodic tones, may have kept the mind and body closed off and isolated. The sounds of music transport the mind, body and soul to another place, often providing positive sparks for the golden years.
