What is In Home Care?

July 31, 2022adicenzoHome Care

Often we talk to people we meet about our company.  When we tell them we are an in home care company, invariably the first thing they say is, “oh, so you’ll watch my house when I’m on vacation?”.  No, that’s not us, but we can refer you to someone to watch over your house if that’s what you’re looking for!

In Home care is providing care for someone in the comfort of their own home.  Home care helps individuals to maintain their independence, even if they have slowed down a little bit, by allowing them to age in place.

In Home Care

Personal Care

We provide personal care services at home including bathing, dressing, toileting and hygiene assistance.  This could be a stand by shower assist where our aide is waiting on the other side of the door in the event that the client requires assistance, a full shower, or a bed baths for clients that are bedbound.

Homemaking

We can provide homemaking services for clients that may be struggling to keep up with some of these things themselves.  We can help run errands, transportation to appointments, prepare meals, help with laundry including changing the sheets, and perform light (surface) housekeeping.

Companionship

We can also provide companionship services to those that are lonely.  During the height of the pandemic, many nursing homes were not non-medical personnel into their facilities.  In some cases, families opted to hire home care agencies to send in to visit with their loved ones.  Children who live far from their aging parents also take great comfort in knowing there is someone to see their parent on a regular basis, knowing they will be informed if there is a change in their loved one’s condition.

Duration

Many clients we have had for a number of years, but we also see a number of clients for a period of a few weeks, sometimes after recovering from an illness or surgery until they are able to get back on their feet.  Whether you are needing help long term, or just recovering from a procedure or health event, we would love to be of assistance.  Please give us a call at 239-337-4263 to learn more about our in home care services, or visit us on the web at www.assistinghands.com/fortmyers
