We are very proud to announce the newest addition to our Assisting Hands Arlington Heights administrative team. Cheryl Castleberry came on board early September as our Case Manager. I know that having a greater presence in the field with help our caregivers feel supported and our clients’ needs stay front and center in our mind. Cheryl will be out to visit each and every one of our families by early October. She brings a wealth of experience to the table and we are so happy to introduce her to you!
Here’s a short Q&A interview with Cheryl, so she may tell you a little about herself and her role in her own words:
What is the role of a case manager?
A case manager assesses, plans, implements, coordinates, monitors and evaluates the options & services required to meet the clients’ health and daily needs.
It is characterized by advocacy, communication, resource management, and promotes quality outcomes.
What is your role in the Assisting Hands Arlington Heights family?
My role in the Assisting Hands family is to improve the clients’ ability to be able to be in their own home & promote autonomy through advocacy, communication, and education. It is also to coordinate care that is safe, timely, effective, efficient, client centered & achieve quality outcomes. My role for the caregivers is to support, educate, communicate to effectively render appropriate, safe and quality home care services to the clients.
Tell us a little about your background
I have worked in Geriatrics for 42 years. I was a CNA, nurse, and now have been doing case management for 3 years. I’ve worked with many challenging conditions like hospice, Alzheimer’s, stroke, COPD, CHF, diabetes, amputations, mentally & physically challenges, ALS, Parkinson’s, Multiple Sclerosis, wound care, and the list goes on.
What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working families at Assisting Hands Home Care?
I enjoy talking to my grown children, knowing they are happy or spending time outdoors, walking, socializing, reading ,yoga, and believe it or not, some sleep. I eat healthy. The moon & stars are fascinating to me. I love being by the water when I go on vacation. I enjoy evenings & spending time with my dog.
Why did you choose to work with Assisting Hands Home Care?
I’m happy to be working with Assisting Hands because Daniellah and Sesalee believe in quality care as much as I do! The “right fit” has to be comfortable in the office as much as a client and caregiver have to be the right fit in the home. It’s all about a phenomenal team of people who can make a company succeed through communication, compassion, and genuine care for everyone around them.
This is why I’m happy to be right where I am, in Arlington Heights, with Assisting Hands Home Care.
What changes do you see in the future with the addition of a case manager?
I see the company grow with extra compassion in the field through monitoring, education, and resolving all concerns. I see clients, families, and caregivers feeling relief that it’s not all on them to try to manage everything. I see calmness. I also see myself feeling very full in my heart when I help you with your loved one. I’m happy to be here to help you all.
