Veteran events can be a powerful way to give back and show support. At Assisting Hands, we have the privilege of caring for many veterans and their families. Every day, we see their strength, hear their stories, and witness the sacrifices they’ve made. Because of this, we believe honoring our veterans isn’t just about saying thank you. Instead, it’s about showing up, getting involved, and staying connected—something veteran events are perfect for.

Veteran Events are a way of giving back

Across Orange County, there are powerful community events that celebrate, support, and remember our veterans. Whether you’re a family member, a caregiver, or a veteran yourself, we hope you’ll take part in some of the opportunities below.

The Best Veteran Events

Veteran Art & Resource Expo
Location: Coastline College, Newport Beach

This event brings together local veterans, artists, and support organizations for a day of creative healing. There will be art and music workshops, activities like golf and fishing, and a wide range of services available, from housing help to job leads. Family members and dependents are welcome too.

Events like this are especially meaningful for older veterans who may be looking for new ways to connect and express themselves. It’s a reminder that healing can take many forms, and community is part of the process.

Caring for Veterans

Veteran Health & Wellness Summit
Location: UC Irvine

This upcoming summit focuses on physical and mental health for veterans. It includes talks on PTSD, chronic pain, aging, and caregiver support. There will also be booths from local veteran service groups, and continuing education credits for professionals.

We love this kind of event because it reflects our approach to care. At Assisting Hands, we don’t just care for the body—we support the whole person, with dignity and compassion.

Veteran Events can help bring the community together

Veteran Events On Memorial Day: Honoring the Fallen

Memorial Day Ceremonies

Held at cemeteries and parks throughout Orange County

Cities like Santa Ana, Irvine, Lake Forest, and Yorba Linda will host Memorial Day ceremonies that are open to the public. These ceremonies often include live music, flag presentations, speeches from local leaders, and a moment of silence for those who never came home.

Attending with a loved one or client is a meaningful way to honor their service, or simply to reflect on the cost of freedom. Many of our caregivers make time to attend, even when they’re off the clock.

Building Community, One Veteran Event at a Time

American Veterans United (AVU) – Ongoing Events in Orange County

AVU holds regular veteran events to bring veterans together. That includes summer barbecues, fall resource fairs, and even community dances that raise money for scholarships. These are open to all veterans and often include their families too.

If you’re looking for ways to give back or volunteer, AVU is a great organization to get to know. And if you’re a veteran yourself, these events are a chance to be part of something welcoming and positive.

How We Care for Veterans at Home

At Assisting Hands, we see firsthand how meaningful it is when veterans are able to stay in their homes with the right support. Whether someone needs help with meals, transportation, personal care, or simply a friendly companion, we’re here.

We also help families understand their VA benefits and connect them with resources. We’ve worked with many veterans who qualify for Aid & Attendance and just needed a little help getting started with the paperwork.

But most of all, we listen. Every veteran has a story, and we’re honored to be part of their journey, whether they want to talk or just sit quietly and know someone cares.

Want to Get Involved?

There are so many ways to support veterans in your community. You can attend an event, volunteer with a local organization, or simply spend time with a veteran you know. And if you’re caring for a loved one who served, you don’t have to do it alone. We’re here if you need us.

Thank you to all the veterans we serve. We see you. We respect you. And we’re proud to care of you.
