When It’s Time for Home Care

December 20, 2020Assisting HandsBlog, Home Care

Your mom or dad may appear to be in tip-top shape. However, it’s the little nuances that make you wonder if a little home care may go a long way to enhance their life and add a little vim and vigor to their step. If your parent has been living alone for a while, possibly after the loss of a spouse or significant other, they may be doing less for themselves and forgetting simple tasks like taking medication, bathing, changing their clothing or even eating. You may have noticed when you stop by for a visit, your mother or father may appear to be unaware of the mess or clutter.  This might be the time to discuss home care with your parents.

The Need for Personal CareWhen is it time for home care?

Your parent may be capable of caring for him or herself, but is not moved to do so.  This may be a good time to discuss home care options.  Home care professionals are trained to assist seniors in this area and provide motivational assistance. If your mom or dad has issues of forgetfulness, this to can be addressed with personal care options designed for mom or dad’s needs.

Home care may be necessary for running errands. Often when your parent turns over the car keys, willingly or unwillingly, the need for assistance in shopping, and rides to appointments becomes an extreme necessity. When hiring a home care agency, this is another task they may fill for Mom or Dad.  When choosing a home care agency include your parent in on the selection process. The agency will work closely with your mother or father and creating a connection from the start will be a win-win.
