Homecare Agencies Recommend Dance As Exercise Therapy For Seniors

January 7, 2016msoltisBlog

homecare agencies would respond otherwise. More and more senior adults are putting on their dancing shoes and kicking it on the dance floor.

Dancing is exercise, and it is also a form of socializing. When your parent chooses to join a dance class or group, they don’t have to worry about a partner. Experts at homecare agencies advise that most groups are open and individuals will partner upon arrival. Typically more women than men attend and similar to high school dances, the women pair up and have a great time dancing together. It’s all about having fun.

The music lightens the mood and helps with many medical and chronic illness situations. If your mom or dad is in a wheelchair they too can dance with a partner; dancing is not just with the feet, it is with the body and in the soul. Dance groups are typically full of laughter and smiles, and anyone can join in, no experience necessary, according to senior care providers at homecare agencies.
For those seniors who want to add more vigor to their steps, line dancing does not require a partner and it is an excellent form of exercise. Many seniors enjoy this kind of dance as they don’t feel like they are exercising even when they work up quite a sweat.

Experts from homecare agencies have seen romances develop in dance groups, and friendships blossom. This is one form of socializing where your loved one can be free and as they say, let their hair down. They swing and sway to the music and feel the freedom that comes with the beat.
