Dementia Care Montgomery County PennsylvaniaAlzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia affect over 5 million senior citizens in the U.S.  Dementia is an umbrella term for degenerative diseases that affect cognitive ability and memory, and Alzheimer’s is the most common form of dementia.  All forms of dementia start with mild symptoms that affect short-term memory but over time, those affected will experience cognitive decline and long-term memory loss which makes it impossible for dementia patients to care for themselves.  Those suffering from dementia require consistent care and it helps for them to receive care in a familiar environment.

Assisting Hands of Collegeville has been a blessing for us when we needed an in home care agency for my mom with dementia. I live 3 hours away from my mother and I can’t stand it! I want to be around her all the time. When I walk in mom asks “Where is my friend?” She considers her, Dottie who cares for my mother, a close friend now. I have had the closest contact with her, but my whole family has pulled her in. She has loved her way into my mother’s heart even with my mom’s dementia and other difficulties. It is the unconditional love that I learned as a child and she is giving it right back to us. Sometimes she’s even better with her because I’m too close to her. We touch base every week. It is a personal relationship not a business one. I don’t know what I’d do without her. I thank God every day for her.
