Earlier today, our Community Liaison Team visited Brookhaven Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Carrollton, TX with a unique guest: one of our friendly parrots. What we expected to be a pleasant visit quickly turned into a lively and memorable afternoon.

Nearly 40 seniors joined us in the community room, where curiosity and laughter filled the space. Many residents enjoyed getting close to the parrot, snapping photos, and sharing stories. Moments like these bring a refreshing change to the daily routine and often spark conversation among residents long after the event ends.
We also made bedside visits to patients who were unable to leave their rooms. Bringing the parrot directly to them ensured everyone could participate. Watching faces light up — even among those having a challenging day — was a powerful reminder of how meaningful small interactions can be.
The positive energy extended beyond the residents. Brookhaven’s care team, service staff, and leadership were welcoming, engaged, and excited about the presentation. Supporting seniors also means supporting the professionals who dedicate their days to caring for them, and it was wonderful to see so many smiles throughout the building.

These events are never about promotion. They are about connection. Our goal is simple: create uplifting moments, encourage social interaction, and contribute to an environment where seniors feel valued.
Regular social engagement plays an important role in emotional wellness. Experiences that encourage laughter and interaction can help reduce feelings of isolation while supporting mental and emotional health. Even a short visit from a therapy bird can make a lasting impression.
Staying active in the senior community also allows us to form strong partnerships with local care providers and be a trusted resource for families when care needs arise. It reflects the same compassion and reliability that families expect from Assisting Hands Home Care.
We are grateful to Brookhaven Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for welcoming us and for their continued dedication to resident well-being. Their enthusiasm made the day even more special.

As we continue hosting community events throughout the area, our mission remains clear — bring comfort, connection, and moments of happiness wherever seniors live.
Because at Assisting Hands Home Care, caring is not just what we do. It is who we are.
