Assisting Hands Home Care and VITAS Health Care are proud sponsors of the senior volleyball team at the Brenda Button Mills Senior Citizen Center in Little Elm, Texas. Supporting this energetic group of older adults is one more way we demonstrate our commitment to the local senior community.

We believe aging should not mean stepping away from the activities that bring purpose, friendship, and joy. The senior volleyball team represents all of those things: staying active, building confidence, enjoying healthy competition, and connecting with peers.
Staying Active Supports Healthy Aging
Physical activity is an important part of maintaining independence as we age. Sports such as volleyball can help seniors stay engaged physically and socially while encouraging regular movement.
For older adults, appropriate activity can support:
- Balance and coordination
- Strength and flexibility
- Mobility and stamina
- Confidence with everyday movement
- Social connection and emotional well-being
- A sense of belonging and accomplishment
Whether someone is playing volleyball, walking with friends, participating in chair exercises, swimming, dancing, or practicing gentle strength training, regular movement can make a meaningful difference in quality of life.
Sports and Fall Prevention
Fall prevention is an especially important topic for seniors and their families. Falls can affect confidence, mobility, and independence, but many risk factors can be addressed through healthy routines, home safety awareness, and appropriate physical activity.
Activities that encourage balance, leg strength, coordination, and reaction time may help older adults feel steadier and more confident in their day-to-day movement. Volleyball, when adapted to the participant’s abilities and played safely, can involve many of these skills. Reaching, stepping, changing direction, and working with teammates can all support functional movement in an enjoyable setting.
Of course, every senior should choose activities that fit their health condition and consult a healthcare professional before starting or changing an exercise routine. The goal is not intense competition—it is safe movement, confidence, connection, and continued independence.
At Assisting Hands Home Care, we also recognize that fall prevention extends beyond exercise. It can include removing trip hazards at home, improving lighting, using supportive footwear, reviewing medications with a clinician, and having the right level of assistance when needed.
Deeply Involved in Little Elm’s Senior Community
We are honored to be involved with the Brenda Button Mills Senior Citizen Center and the vibrant senior community in Little Elm. Community centers create valuable opportunities for older adults to remain connected, active, and informed. They are places where friendships grow, people discover new interests, and seniors can continue to thrive.
Sponsoring the senior volleyball team is not simply about putting our name on an activity. It is about showing up for seniors, celebrating what they can do, and supporting programs that help people remain active and engaged.
We applaud every player who steps onto the court, encourages a teammate, learns a new skill, or simply comes out to have fun. Their example is a reminder that healthy aging includes movement, laughter, friendship, and participation in the community.
A Circle of Care Matters
Assisting Hands Home Care is also grateful for healthcare partners such as VITAS Health Care. We believe a strong circle of care is essential for seniors and families navigating changing health needs.
Home care, healthcare providers, hospice professionals, family caregivers, community resources, and senior programs all play an important role. When these resources communicate and work together, seniors and their families can receive more coordinated, compassionate support.
Our partnership with organizations such as VITAS Health Care reflects our shared commitment to serving people with dignity, respect, and individualized attention. Whether a senior needs help with daily routines, personal care, companionship, mobility support, respite for a family caregiver, or guidance during more complex health circumstances, coordinated care can help families feel less alone.
