Aging In Place

Aging in place is defined as “the ability to live in one’s own home and community safely, independently, and comfortably, regardless of age, income, or ability level” according to the Center for Disease Control.

Each year more and more people are choosing to pursue this route; the Report to the Nation on Livable Communities published by AARP in December 2011, indicates that a substantial majority of adults would prefer to age in place—that is, remain in their home as long as possible; 90 percent of adults over the age of 65 indicate that they would prefer to stay in their current residence as they age.
