The West Palm Beach Wetlands: Apoxee Grassy Preserves
Nonetheless, there is more to the Beach County than meets the eye. The Grassy Water Preserve is home to one of North America’s untouched wildlife. The Apoxee (Pronounced as AP-OH-EE) is the beach’s most treasured wildlife sanctuary consisting of extensive flooded prairies and lakes that are habitat to some fascinating natural features.
Apoxee, or Apohee as it is commonly known, means Beyond Tomorrow. The sustainable water supply from the flooded grounds provides enough water for city residents. The Apoxee Wilderness Trail is an attraction in its own.

Through the 4.7 miles of trail, visitors have a chance of passing through some compelling springs and rivers, including white water. Additionally, there are a diversity of ecosystems sustaining a vast latitude of habitats including the in damp and moist environments.
What to Expect from the Apoxee Wilderness Trail
There is a parking lot at the commencement of the trail. On the right side, there is a marram trail that extends to several miles. On the left side, there is a paved trail that takes guests to boardwalk into lakes and rich habitats of pine and oak trees. The dirt on the right is rather narrow and is lined with trees. The Apoxee wilderness trail is full of swampy and dumpy waters that contain rich underwater plants; so thick that you may think that you are passing through a grand canyon.
Not only do visitors and explorers get to bask in the glory of what Mother Nature has to offer, but also they enjoy some of the best Panoramic views that greet the eyes when they take an airboat tour above the Everglades, South Florida’s Grassy Water Preserve. There are thick canopies that form an impressive mesh that unnoticeably greets the wetlands.
The wetlands have a complex ecosystem that thrives sustainably featuring animals such as egrets, ospreys, raccoons, lizards, bobcats, frogs, herons, and white-tailed deer.
