No one wants to think about planning their own funeral…. I get it.
And frankly, if my own father called my up on the phone right now and said: ” Son, I’m at a funeral home and I’m looking at a Blue casket and a Brown one … which one should I get? ”
I would immediately snap back , “Aw c’mon Dad! , hang up the phone right now, and please don’t ever call me about something like that ever again! “.
But nonetheless, my years of experience have clearly shown that prearranging your own final disposition as soon as possible is hands down the wisest and most loving thing to do.
I mean really, just think about it, the death of a loved one coupled with wanting to make the right decision when you have a limited amount of time to attend to all the details…will leave even the strongest person feeling completely overwhelmed. But sadly , more often than not, these decisions are left to be made when the family is grieving and is truly the least prepared, both emotionally and financially. Its somewhat ironic how many of us have done everything we can do to protect our family’s future: invested wisely, opened savings accounts and acquired insurance on our life and home, but haven’t taken care of our own funeral arrangements. Fact is: It is never going to be cheaper or more convenient than it is today. So as a kind word to the wise, prepare your final gift to the ones you love as soon as possible, its A Wise Decision That Shows You Care.
